Just FYI, FREAK isn't just limited to OpenSSL like you seem to think. It also effects weak SSL/TLS RSA_EXPORT Keys those that are <= 512 bit encryption. Both of my ManageEngine products were using a low strength Cipher with a < 56-Bit key. I would highly recommend adding the cipher above.

Hi there,

in the ADSelfService Plus web admin console ...
Configuration
> Self Service
section
>> Password Expiry Notification

edit one of the available notification entry and click on Advanced button on the right of the save/cancel button

There are 2 options under Reports :
  • Send notification delivery status to users' manager
  • Mail admin the notification delivery status

If we ticked any of these ... somehow they receive the report everyday!
is this expected?

  1. edit the password expiry notification (any of the entry)
  2. assume the notification frequency was set to On Specific Days
  3. Schedule Time shows only XX Hrs XX Mins
  4. edit the Select domain value to anything
  5. Schedule Time will show the day in addition to the time: DAY at XX Hrs XX Mins
  6. need to change the notification frequency to something else and back to on specific days to show the proper schedule time

run as windows service not reliable

Hi there,

We've installed ADSSP as windows service with the method shown under Admin > Product Settings> Windows Service

We can start and stop the service fine but sometimes it just not very reliable.
  • if we start the service from application, the status under Windows Services not showing as Started
  • one time the notification refused to be run manually so we restarted the service via Windows Services; things still doesn't work until we stop-start from the application

Is there a known issue with ADSSP running as Windows Service?

Please modify the ResetUnlock.html file located at <installation directory>\webapps\adssp\html\ResetUnlock.html directory for reset/unlock gina page.

well, this is not necessary, is it?
Is it possible to only send the notification according to the end user's settings; so if it sends a notification to user, it will also send to the manager/admin?

Why would anyone wants to receive a notification of "there's no user with account/password almost expired" everyday?

Apologies if I sounds like ranting, but to me, this "feature" just doesn't make any sense.

alright, well, it seems to work well at the moment so we'll leave it at that.

Hi there,

When playing around with Reporting ... I realized that there's an entry that's only available when creating new scheduled reports.

When creating new scheduled reports , under Select Reports section > Report Category .
there's an extra report available on the Select Reports check boxes: Soon-To-Expire Account Users
(circled blue on both screenshot below)

That one is not available when viewed on the Reports page so i can't run it manually.

Also, during the creation of new scheduled reports, when hovering the mouse cursor on the any of the sub-section of the Reports tab, the fields for Report Category and Generate report on fields selections are gone. I've tested this with Firefox and IE with the same behavior.

Stop Admin e-mails when no report is generated

Hi,

Is there a way to stop ADSelfService Plus from e-mailing out the reports e-mail when there is no report available that day?

So I currently get the e-mails saying:

'Dear Admin, No reports available at the moment for the configured scheduler. Regards, ADSelfService Plus'

I don't want notifying if there is no report available that day, only on days where a report is available.

Is it possible to turn this off?

Hi,

You seems to be on the old version of the application. Please disable "Mail admin the notification delivery status." and save the configuration.

Hi,

You can disable the notification to admin/manager, so that they won't receive email notification. This feature was included in the application to track the number of notification sent to the users on daily basis.

Reset or change passwords

I am implementing ADSelfService Plus and curious if are any security best practices for implementing change vs reset tools.  We rarely have issues with users forgetting their passwords, so I am tempted to disable the reset option so that users aren't forced to enroll (just let them hit the site and use the change password option).  However, it seems less secure to have them just change their password, instead of answering security questions first.  Any opinions or thoughts on this?

I know we can disable the notification, which we've already done.
can we get the notification ONLY WHEN the user gets it?

For example, we set to notify users about their user account / password almost expired in:
  • 14 days
  • 3 days
  • 1 day

So when ADSSP sends a notification to user on those set times, it also sends the report to admin/manager.

Is this possible?
